My art practice primarily utilises the act of walking as a means of exploring literal and conceptual landscapes. I like to think on my feet and visit places I am or thus become familiar and generate ideas and works related to the experiences of the situations and environments I encounter. Both urban and rural are of interest, though I favour collecting thoughts undistracted by the hustle and bustle of everyday life and so find myself gravitating toward unpopulated spaces.

My creative response to this activity can at times, be considered a form of social archaeology; an excavation and examination of social, political, and literal environments, where I enjoy uncovering the obscured and that which has become hidden or eroded from our awareness over time to present works that encourage reflection, introspection and conversation.

The philosophy of Situationist International and Land Art is particularly influential in my thinking, which has a tendency to lean toward the tradition of institutional analysis and investigation and is broadly speaking, concerned with interrogating and responding to the power-dynamics of western society and the affects its generally human-centric attitudes have upon the earth’s natural environments ecologies, and sentient beings.

I frequently favour a process of deconstruction/reconstruction as a device for work and idea generation; removing and adding elements to explore compelling relationships. This approach promotes the reuse and recycling of materials and my previous works and aligns well with my concern for the environmental impact of my own practice. Consequently what appears often echos temporal states, momentarily coming into being following speculative and experimental medium and material exploration; manifesting as drawings, sculptures, imagined digital scenarios and multi-media installations.
